Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in signing Sevilla’s Joan Jordan this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his side after a dismal 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Although the Gunners appear to have turned a corner recently with wins against Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion coming in the space of a few days, there is no denying that the Emirates Stadium outfit have struggled to get going this season.

The wins have taken Arsenal up to 13th after 16 games played, however many of the club’s faithful – and those involved with the club on a daily basis – would have had aims of being in a Champions League spot by the time the Premier League season had reached its halfway point.

That said, they are only six points from fifth so they are still in contention despite the rather poor campaign to date, therefore they could still prove to be value for money for those using UK betting apps.

However, with January just around the corner, the winter transfer window is fast approaching and it seems that Arteta is keen on a Spaniard to help him and Arsenal to sort out their stuttering start.

According to a report by The Sun, Joan Jordan is believed to be the Arsenal manager’s main target to help his team out, although it is understood that the 26-year-old has been tracked by the north London outfit for over three years.

It is thought that Sevilla will listen to offers of around £32 million to let him leave, despite the midfielder having a minimum fee release clause in his contract set at £55 million.

It is believed Arsenal are prepared to pay the £32 million to get their man, as they believe he could be the answer and help them achieve an identity in the middle of the field.

There could be an argument for bringing in a new midfielder to the Emirates Stadium in January, as a number of current options available to the club have failed to really get going or convince everyone that they are the real deal for the club.

Granit Xhaka has split opinion for long enough as he can provide Arsenal with Jekyll and Hyde performances, such as his red card against Burnley and then his glorious free-kick against Chelsea.

Dani Ceballos is only on loan from Real Madrid but he continues to blow hot and cold, whilst Thomas Partey has found it difficult to get going in the Premier League since his big-money £45 million move from Atletico Madrid in the summer. The Ghana international midfielder has managed to make just four Premier League starts so far.

Arteta is thought to be keen on a January recruitment drive and Jordan is one of his targets, despite the Sevilla man having made the move to his new club just over a season ago.

Nonetheless, the former Eibar man has been nothing but impressive, as he managed to make 40 appearances that included helping Julien Lopetegui’s side to lifting the UEFA Europa League – having defeated English duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United on their way to the title.

Despite being happy, it is believed he would welcome the chance to join a team in the Premier League, whilst the appeal of working under Arteta could help push a move forward.
