Arsenal is not doing bad right now, considering the good form they find themselves in which is reflecting on their position on the Premier League table. It is disappointing that they are forced to settle for Thursday night football but one has to admit that their game has really improved over time.
This can be said to be as a result of the experienced players the club brought in and how much impact it has added to the team’s game-play. One of those players is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, signed from Borrusia Dortmund for a club-record fee of £56m.
So far, the 30-year-old forward has been impressive. This season, he has eight appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal and has scored seven goals averaging a total of 0.88 goals per match. He has a total of 183 passes and an average of 22.83 passes per match, 22 crosses, and one big chance created. (Premier League Stat)
In those eight matches, he has a total of 25 shots with 11 on target and a 44% shot accuracy. His stat alone speaks volume and one can conclude he is a good buy for Arsenal.
One little problem is how much the team has been used to his brilliance and how they’ll cope without the Gabonese on the pitch.
Why should Arsenal worry about over-reliance on Aubameyang?
He is Arsena’s main striker at the moment and like every other footballer, he will want more wins, game appearances and of course, trophies. Over the years, Arsenal has struggles to winning trophies, always missing it by near chances. This has been frustrating for some players and fans alike and one shouldn’t expect Aubameyang to be different.
He is a great player that will definitely get the chance to play on many teams so the possibility of him leaving Arsenal when he doesn’t get the league titles he came for is high. This is why the club should be worried about over-reliance on him.
This has happened to several players before him. They were the leading force of the club but got frustrated and had to leave because they needed to achieve more than their loyalty to the club. As much as seeing him leave won’t be new, it surely would affect the club, just like when Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Alex Hleb and others who played a key role in the Arsenal team left.
His departure would leave a hole in the Arsenal squad that they will struggle to fill.
What to do?
In football, anything can happen and a couple of moves away from Arsenal is proof to that statement. The best advice to Arsenal fans is to brace themselves. Aubameyang is the kind of pacy player that Jurgen Klopp favors, so anything at all can happen in the coming future.
Also, the club just needs to not fail. Getting a league title will make their players fulfilled to be part of a team that achieved for the club but failure to do so will birth frustration as always, triggering the thought of finding where else to get what he wants.
Conclusion
Arsenal have always had the luck with some of the finest players but always end up losing them. This season is looking good for the club considering their present form and the chances of bringing in more players to beef up the squad. If perchance the club seem to slip and their main striker decide to leave, trying to make whoever the replacement is settle in and sync with the team might pose a problem that only time can solve.
